THE Benefice of Three Rivers said a fond farewell to their vicar, the Rev Canon Anne Brown, who was licensed as priest in charge of St Agnes and Mount Hawke with Mithian and Perranzabuloe and Crantock with Cubert recently.

Among the farewells was one from Lewannick Knit and Natter group, where members gifted Anne with a large blanket, which included knitted bunting and rosettes, which the group had made for a flower festival marking the Queen’s 90th birthday.

To ensure Anne does not forget them, the group had also included a photo of members inside each rosette.

Anne was also made the star of her very own poem, and friends and colleagues were keen that as many people as possible should be able to enjoy Anne’s poem, which was written by Joy Wadge from the knit and natter group.

“We are a little annoyed with the Bishop,

He is moving our Anne away,

We really are going to miss her,

We thought she was here to stay —

well, for longer than this anyway, so

we are really annoyed with the Bishop,

we were all having such fun, she is good at praying, and pancakes and punch,

and lots of other things,

like knitting and nattering and visiting folk,

and painting and opening shops,

she’s particularly good at barbies, and hanging bunting up.

But I suppose we’ve been lucky really, we’ve had her here quite a while,

and now she’s moving down Cornwall, to show them her lively style,

yes, we are very annoyed with the Bishop,

but God Bless you Anne (with an ‘e’)

and any time you are passing,

please, drop in for tea.”
