RNLI volunteer and stalwart of the Port Isaac community, Bob Bulgin was awarded the British Empire Medal in recognition of his contribution to the charity at the station's Annual Lifeboat Service on Sunday. Col Edward Bolitho, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall, presented the medal to Bob in front of fellow RNLI volunteers, family and friends. The station's Annual Lifeboat Service is a chance for the Port Isaac volunteers to give thanks and remember those who have been lost at sea. Bob has been a volunteer with the RNLI lifeboat station for the past 16 years, which include 14 as press officer and seven as chairman of the fundraising branch. Bob has, in the past, organised numerous balls, auctions, lotteries and tea parties to bring much needed funds into the charity's collection boxes. He also liaises with the local media following on from rescues, and helps to raise the profile of the RNLI's volunteer crew among the local community.
