ALTARNUN bell ringers are great supporters of tradition; ringing to mark special occasions. Here the team is pictured after a ring at 9.30am on Saturday, to mark St George’s Day.
Pictured from left are Chris Wonnacott, John Barker, Lesley Barker, Irene Shoubridge, Marion Tipton, Rebecca Smith, David Shoubridge (tower captain), Jane Kelly (deputy captain) and Paul Burden.
There are several more ringers, who were unable to attend to join in the celebration. It is a thriving group, but more members are always welcome.
If anyone would like to learn to ring, practice sessions are held on Wednesday evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm. Accredited trainers will help and support those learning this new skill; and all the members of the team are a friendly bunch, and will make those attending feel most welcome. Just come along on a Wednesday for a taster session.
