A Greener Bude, introduced to the world in February 2018, is an environmental action group looking to reduce the town’s consumption of single-use plastics and making Bude a greener place through a range of different projects and influential people in the area.
Ian and Rachel O’Hare, owners of the Barrel at Bude, are ridding their establishment of all single-use plastics. Instead, they are introducing a unique range of beers, brewed at Simon and Justine Carruthers’ Dowr Kammel Brewery at St Breward, which will be presented in returnable glass bottles.
The Dowr Kammel Brewery is already known for being a ‘model of sustainability’, using its own hops grown nearby, using green energy from solar panels and keeping the beer cool in a ‘cave’ instead of the use of electric refrigeration.
