THE announcement that all of the beaches in Bude Bay passed the minimum European water quality standard has been welcomed by manager of the Bude Cleaner Seas Project Ian Saltern.

The project is working with local authorities, farmers, tourism businesses and the wider community in Bude to raise awareness of the causes of bathing water contamination.

Mr Saltern said: "It's great news that Summerleaze, and the other bathing waters in the area, passed minimum standards this year.

"Clearly, the excellent weather this summer helped, but I'd like to think that the messages being put out by the Cleaner Seas Project are also getting through."
