POLICE are appealing for information after a burglary at a property in Upper Chapel, Launceston, last Thursday afternoon.
Police said a man let himself into an elderly resident’s home and when challenged by the occupants claimed he was selling tea towels and other household products.
Police then received a further report of a male selling household products door to door near Tavistock Road later that day.
A spokesperson for Launceston Police said: “If anyone has any knowledge of door to door sellers in the Launceston area on Thursday, March 5, please contact police, quoting reference CR/014229/16.
“You can pass information either via the non-emergency telephone number 101 or by email to DC Gary Page — [email protected].
“Please remember to be vigilant when dealing with door to door sellers. Always ask to see ID — any genuine seller will be happy to show you identification.
“Remember that if you are not satisfied with a seller’s ID or if they make you feel uncomfortable in any way you have every right to ask them to leave.
“Please also remember to keep doors locked to prevent people inviting themselves into your home. Any suspicious sellers should be reported to police.”
