HOLSWORTHY Neighbourhood Police are asking residents to be vigilant against opportunist burglars and thieves when buying presents for Christmas.

The risk of domestic burglaries increases in the weeks leading up to Christmas and we are warning locals that any presents on show in their homes can be a target for criminals.

Over the festive period we are recommending that householders take care by keeping doors and windows locked and secure, and by keeping presents and valuables away from outside view.
