LAUNCESTON'S St John Ambulance volunteers will continue providing first aid cover for local banger racing throughout next year.

The team of first aiders has supported North Cornwall Motor Racing Club for many years and was in action at the final event of the season on Sunday October 27.

St John volunteer, Nikki Francis said: "It was a great day to see the 2013 season out in style. We had heavy rain and mud, ahead of the big storm but it made the races even more exciting for spectators and our 4x4 ambulance is built for those kinds of conditions.

"The club thanked us for our first aid expertise over the year and we're delighted that they would like our continued support next season.

"The bangers are among our favourite duties and we're already looking forward to the next race, on Easter Monday, next year."
