A GREAT band of local volunteers, armed with all the right gear, set about cleaning up some of the litter around Holsworthy.
The team of volunteers met in the Square at 6pm on Tuesday, June 12 and were provided with litter pickers, gloves and bags.
The event was organised by Holsworthy Town Council, and 16 residents did an amazing job filling up bags of rubbish from around the town.
Ably assisted by town clerk Vanessa Saunder, Torridge district councillor Ian Parker and Mother Elizabeth Burke, the town looked so different in just an hour.
The message the group want to get across is for people to ‘try to keep litter in the bins and look after your wonderful town’.
PFCSO Mark James and PCSO Emma Tomkies from the Holsworthy neighbourhood police team also got involved on the day.
They said: “It was great to see so many member of the public get involved to help Holsworthy, we are really lucky to have such a close community here.”
It is hoped these events can become a regular thing. The next session is planned for Monday, July 2, at 6pm again meeting in the Square.
