NORTH Cornwall MP, Dan Rogerson met this week with Post Office campaigners at Whitstone, and senior officers from the planning and regeneration section at Cornwall Council, to discuss what support can be offered to local shops in the village and surrounding area.
The MP says these shops are "vital to village life" and more must be done to support them.
Commenting, he said: "Former sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses have done the community a real service by maintaining a Post Office 'outreach' counter in the shops, where they have been offered the opportunity.
"There is little financial advantage in it for them, but they are a big boost to their villages in being able to access services. I hope that the Cornwall Council will now explore ways in which use its services to support local shops too."
