PICKING up the interbreed dairy champion prize at Camelford Show was Brian Coombe from near North Petherwin with the Ayrshire breed champion.

He said he was ‘delighted’ with the rosettes, which also included a 1st with the milking cow and 2nd with the milking heifer.

They went on to Okehampton Show the day after with the same milking heifer, who won her class, and took a different cow, which won breed champion and went on to win interbreed champion as well as the inspection and production prize.

The heifer was reserve breed champion.

Mr Coombe, pictured above with the champion, said: “You can’t win all the time but we’ve had a very good year! It’s very nice to represent a breed and show the public where the milk and meat comes from.”
