THE Army Cadets from Holsworthy were joined by local dignitaries, former cadets and special guests on Monday, December 18, during the annual detachment Christmas dinner and presentations evening.
The event was held for the second year at Holsworthy Golf Club where the sixty diners enjoyed an excellent traditional Christmas dinner.
Serjeant Ella Hughes received the Holsworthy Town Council ‘Best NCO’ shield from deputy mayor of Holsworthy Colin Punter. The award is decided by votes from the cadets themselves.
The ‘Best Cadet’ and ‘Best Recruit’ trophies are awarded following a vote by the detachment adults and senior cadet NCOs.
Rosie Sibley was awarded the ‘Best Recruit’ trophy and Alisha Squirrell the ‘Best Cadet’.
Cadet Harry Fackrell was the smartest cadet for 2017 receiving his ‘Best Turn Out’ trophy from Staff Serjeant Philip Westley. Harry, along with Will Hart, also received promotion to Lance Corporal.
Section 2, led by Serjeant Ella Hughes, collected the ‘Exercise winning team’ trophy following a weekend event held in July at ‘Survival Laser Games’ near Torrington.
