A LAUNCESTON-based dry cleaning company has been voted by a panel of industry professionals as 'best newcomer to the industry 2015'.

Downtons Dry Cleaning, based in Exeter Street, won the accolade at the National Laundry and Dry Cleaning Awards 2015, known as 'The LADAs'.

The laundry and dry cleaning awards recognise individuals and companies for their expertise, professionalism and dedication within the textile care industry.

Jane Downton, pictured receiving the award at the ceremony held at The Madejski Stadium in Reading, said: "What a fantastic day I have had at the awards ceremony, and what an achievement to obtain national industry recognition for a Cornish dry cleaner!

"A big thank you to all my staff who have worked so hard and most importantly to all my customers across North Cornwall."

Downtons continue to expand and have recently opened in Liskeard, following the closure by Johnsons the Cleaners of their shop in the town, and are now offering a full dry cleaning and laundry service to South East Cornwall.
