A PHOTOGRAPHY exhibition displaying work by award winning Ross Hoddinott of Bude went on display at the Castle in Bude on Monday.

The exhibition also features Dorset photographer Mark Bauer's work and comprises of atmospheric imagery of the South West, with a particular focus on Cornwall.

Ross, aged 32, has steadily been building his reputation as one of the country's leading outdoor photographers for several years.

He has been winning awards since the age of 10, when he triumphed in the 'Junior Flora and Fauna' category at the BBC's annual Countryfile photo competition.

Since then he has amassed several more achievements including 'Young Wildlife Photographer of the year', 'Wildlife Photographer of the Year', 'British Wildlife Photographer of the Year' and even appeared on the competition's judging panel in 2008.

As well as providing images for a number of national magazine publications, he has also had six photography books published, including 'The Digital Exposure Handbook'.

Whilst the majority of Ross's photography is based on insects and wild plants, he has spent more and more time over the past few years developing his talent for shooting scenic imagery, and said that 'this region, and its natural history, is a constant inspiration to me'.

The exhibition is open to visit until June 27.
