A NEW group — Bude Energy Community (BECo) — has been established to help build a sustainable energy future in the town and surrounding area.

In a massive boost, BECo has just received a £10,000 grant from Energy Fund Cornwall — representatives from the group heard the good news at an awards ceremony at the Eden Project on Monday evening.

Fred Barker, chairperson of the new group, said: "Here in Bude and surrounding areas we have some of the best renewable energy resources in Europe, including the sun, the wind, the sea and woodland, so it makes sense to make the most of them and do so in a way that benefits local people."
