MEMBERS of the Delabole Allotment Group are now coming towards the end of their third growing season since the regeneration at the beginning of 2009.

The site itself has changed considerably in this time as perennial plants, herbs and fruit bushes become more established and structures such as fences, sheds, greenhouses and chicken runs give it a more permanent feel.

Despite battling with the usual problems of weeds, pests, diseases and the unpredictable Cornish weather, many members now have stores of vegetables such as potatoes, onions and garlic; freezers filled with runner beans, peas, and raspberries; jars of jams, pickles and chutneys; as well as winter cabbages, sprouts, leeks and parsnips still in the ground.
