LAUNCESTON Liberal Democrat councillors have called on Cornwall Council to clarify their plans for public toilets in the area.

The demand comes after a council committee proposed closing 114 public toilets across Cornwall, including those in Boyton and the Walk House car park toilets in Launceston.

Subsequently, the council leader has written to councillors indicating that a re-think might be underway.

"We were horrified by the announcement by a council committee that almost half the public toilets in Cornwall could be closed," said Cllr for Launceston South Sasha Gillard-Loft. "We welcome the apparent U-turn but we need clarity from Cllr Robertson and the Tory cabinet.
