A DESCENDANT of one of Launceston's most famous sons visited the town as part of celebrations marking a 25 year anniversary voyage last week.
Dr Jonathan King is the great great great grandson of Philip Gidley King — a man revered in both Launceston and Australia for his contribution to the establishment of British settlement in the southern hemisphere nation.
A passionate historian, Jonathan has led an astonishing life and can point to various achievements as proof of this. The award winning author has penned 25 books on Australian history; written thousands of newspaper and magazine articles; produced and presented more than 20 documentary films; appeared on hundreds of tv shows and enjoyed roles as 'resident historian' on a number of radio broadcasts.
