A LADY from Australia was elated to meet a number of family members that she didn't know existed, until she visited Launceston during a trip to the UK.
Patricia Smith from Perth, Australia, together with her daughter, Karen and her son-in-law Rob Furlong, recently visited Cornwall trying to trace their ancestors.
Through a cousin in Sydney, Patricia was informed that Launceston resident Bill Roberts' mother was a distant cousin to her.
Following correspondence between one another, Patricia, Karen and Rob came to England and after visits to Northern England and Scotland and parts of Europe, they eventually came to Launceston.
The family they were tracing were the Colwill family from Coldnorthcott, St Clether. To connect the family they had to go back to Patricia and Bill's great great grandfather Arscott Colwill and his wife Mary Higgins, who came from Werrington.
