THE pupils and staff of Tregadillett Primary School and a few special guests played at this year’s ‘Tregfest’ music festival.
The weather was kind on this outdoor event, which built on the previous year’s success in having two stages for the bands and choirs to perform.
As well as this feast for the ears the audience were treated to a barbecue, a candy floss stall, face painting and a bouncy castle — all kindly organised by the school’s PTA chair Mrs Natalie Shute.
The school was very grateful to the local musicians and music teachers Pete and Zoe Zalick who taught many of the performers and had their patience tested enduring practice sessions for the staff ban — the staff were fuelled more by naive enthusiasm than any natural talent.
Mr and Mrs Zalick also compered the event, as well as keeping everyone to schedule, which was a task in itself.
Toes tapped to ‘Skylark’, a folk and jazz band from Wadebridge, who’s melodic sounds really complemented the summer evening.
The Tregadillett Songbirds Choir, accompanied by pianist and Tregadillett school governor Mrs Susan Phipps, treated everyone to old favourites and had them clapping and singing along to Is this the way to Amarillo?
Big crowds gathered to see several alumni of Tregadillett who returned to perform with their Launceston College bands. The primary children of Tregadillett played in a variety of bands and singing groups and the band ‘Paradise’ seemed to play one song with particular enthusiasm — School’s Out For Summer.
Stuart Tulloch, headteacher of Tregadillett Primary School, thanked everyone who contributed to the huge success and urged everyone to look out for an even bigger musical extravaganza next summer.
