LAUNCESTON had more than just the Diamond Jubilee to celebrate over the bank holiday weekend, as the third Charles Causley Festival of Literature and the Arts was a great success.

Although the absence of former poet laureate Sir Andrew Motion through sickness was a disappointment, the other events were very well-attended.

Kicking off the festival, FLIC (Films Launceston in the Community) presented the film 'Bright Star' as part of its monthly town hall cinema. Artists co-operative Gwyngala also brought interest to a chilly Friday evening as they hosted a 'Meet the Artists' gathering at their exhibition in Liberty House.
