OVER £3,600 has been collected for the Devon Air Ambulance as a result of a fitness day held in Holsworthy for local residents.

The event was set up by Andrea Dowling, who wanted to make a donation and say 'thank you' to the men and women who provide the service after they helped save the life of her son Freddie on Christmas Day last year. He was flown to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, and onwards to the neurological children's intensive care unit in Bristol. Freddie remained in a critical condition for one week, finally waking on December 31. He returned home to his family three weeks later and hasn't looked back. 'Fitness for Fred' was enjoyed by everyone who took part, with sessions including aerobics, walking, yoga, zumba and boot camp undertaken.
