FOR the first time Laraine Golding, from Ashwater, took part in the Devon Open Studios event and held a preview day on Friday, September 8.

The countywide event officially began on Saturday, September 9 and will run until Sunday.

The public is invited to Laraine’s studio in Henford, Ashwater, to view her mixture of landscapes, still life, botanical and seascapes created in various mediums.

Painting has always played a key role in her life since childhood, and after successfully achieving her ‘City and Guilds in Watercolour’, whilst living in Berkshire, Laraine said she was ‘pleasantly surprised’ to have one of her paintings chosen to be published in the book Special Trees and Woods of the Chilterns.

More recently she has completed a ‘Landscape Diploma’ course over two years with London Art College.

To view some of Laraine’s work visit the Devon Artist Network website and go to the Devon Open Studios page or call 01409 211401 for further information.

Free copies of the ‘events guide’ are available at various libraries, tourist information centres and galleries across Devon, giving details of venue and opening days.
