PAINTINGS have been put up at Launceston's Conservative Club to cover up the wooden boards until office space is created there.

The building was put up for auction last October and was bought by Nomads, a fair trade clothing company in the town.

Artist Peter Hadley from Launceston explained that he was approached by the owners of Nomads, Duncan Harvey and Vicky Jackson.

Mr Hadley said: "They approached me before Christmas and said we are thinking of brightening it up because it's going to be boards until at least after Easter."

Jo Ralphs from Nomads' sales and marketing team said Nomads is an international brand that has 'a growing team of staff'.

She added: "We are looking to develop the Conservative Club in a sympathetic way. It is quite exciting, it is quite a big growth development for Nomads.

"It will be a fantastic working space for us to move into."
