Four Ruby Country artists and makers are this year taking part in Art Trek Open Studios 2009, part of the North Devon Festival. Beginning last weekend (Friday, June 19 to 21) and continuing this weekend (Friday June 26 to 28); Glen Headland, along with Dora and Derek Reed and Paul Wright, are showcasing their artistic talents at their venue near Thornbury. As well as tea, coffee, walks and talks, they have a stunning collection of photography, paintings in acrylic and watercolour, woodcraft, glassware and handmade jewellery, both to view and to purchase. This is just a small part of Art Trek which has a total of 52 artists taking part across North Devon, opening their studios and galleries to the public. Art Trek encapsulates the friendliness of North Devon; artists happily encouraging you to chat with them over a cup of tea and gain some insight into their artistic inspiration and working methods. Art Trek booklets are available in many places locally, listing all artists. The gallery at Thornbury is open on each day from 10am to 4pm. Follow 'Art Trek' signposts on local roads to find 'Venue 37'.
