HOLSWORTHY Community College ran its annual sports days for Years 7 to 9 from Monday, July 11, to Wednesday, July 13.
There was an array of activities, ranging from a swimming gala to a gym challenge, water polo to spinning.
Student Jaime Ley said: “Playing water polo was great fun. It was like football but in the water! Also, it was something different.”
The afternoon activities ranged from Tug of War to Capture the Flag for Years 7 and 8. Year 9 also had the opportunity to work with the Army doing team building and problem solving activities. The Army was again impressed with the enthusiasm of the Year 9 Holsworthy pupils.
Thanks were expressed to 1610 for providing the option for the gym challenge and spinning classes.
Staff, Year 10 work experience students and pupils in Year 8 also competed against each other in a 4x100 metre relay.
Student Amy Gear said: “With a quick start the work experience students were soon ahead, closely trailed by the teachers. The work experience students kept up the pace, but then Mr Cox and Mr Pugh started closing the gap. Then, out of nowhere, Harvey Lees stormed out of the blocks, closely tracked by Mr Watkins. However, the latter’s best efforts could not keep up with the blistering pace of Harvey Lees, leaving an easy gap of five metres between first and second.”
