A LARGE number of people, including pupils from the Tintagel Primary School and Tintagel Pre-School gathered around the Memorial Stone in Trevena Square to share in the annual Armistice Day Act of Remembrance on Friday, November 11.
The event was arranged by the Tintagel Churches Together in co-operation with the Camelford British Legion and was led by the Rev Bryan Ede and Mr Vaughan Williams.
After an introduction by Rev Ede the Exhortation was shared by Vaughan Williams and Harland West, a pupil at Tintagel School.
The Last Post and Reveille was sounded by Lisa Hannah to commence and conclude the period of two minutes’ silence.
Poppy wreathes were laid at the foot of the memorial stone by Elizabeth Headon, representing Tintagel Primary School, and Vaughan Williams on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
Harland West and Georgi Dalglish pupils from Tintagel School read a poem entitled ‘The Day the War Came’.
The school pupils then displayed some panels of artwork, which they had prepared for the event.
The Trevena Square venue was being used for the Act of Remembrance for the first time, and enabled the use of the village memorial stone, which was donated to the village by the Tintagel Royal British Legion branch to be the focus for the event.
Aided by the fine weather it was a meaningful Act of Remembrance.
