Supported Sheltered Housing accommodation, Abbeyfield House in Burn View, Bude, benefited from a session of 'armchair exercise' recently, giving its residents the opportunity to mobilise and keep fit in a gentle and fun way which will be continued on a weekly basis. NHS health trainer, Amanda Thornton of Neetside Community Centre, described the session as 'gentle exercises from a seated position, working the whole body, which the residents could incorporate into their daily lives, with the aim of improving co-ordination, strength and mobility thereby helping to prevent slips, trips and falls'. House Manager Donna Gilbert said: "We are very grateful to Amanda for providing this support to our residents. They thoroughly enjoyed the session and are looking forward to it being a weekly event to help them keep fit. It will undoubtedly be very beneficial to their health and general well being."
