CORNWALL residents are being encouraged to make sure that they are registered to vote at the forthcoming Cornwall Council and local Parish and Town Council elections on Thursday, May 2.
The council published a new register of electors on March 1 to reflect changes to some electoral divisions and parish ward arrangements. In order to vote at the elections your name must be on this register.
Anyone who is not registered, or whose name or address has changed in recent months, must apply to register by Wednesday, April 17 to be in time for the elections in May.
Registration forms are available from electoral services or from the council website at http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/elections">www.cornwall.gov.uk/elections.
All applications must reach electoral services by the relevant deadline. Postal votes will be sent out on Friday, April 19.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a councillor can order an information pack from electoral services.
Candidates wishing to stand for election must submit their completed nomination papers to electoral services by noon on Friday, April 5. To contact electoral services, call 03001 231115 or email voter-registrat [email protected]">[email protected].
