OVER 60s from Cornwall are being urged to take part in a competition, organised by the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder McCarthy & Stone, to find the most Colourful Characters.
The competition is open to those aged 60 and over, who believe age is just a number and want to make the most of their retirement with no intention of slowing down.
McCarthy & Stone, who have a development in Launceston, Manaton Court, are looking forward to hearing from those who remain active, or who enjoy taking part in exhilarating activities or an unusual hobby, and would like to know why any participant thinks they’re a Colourful Character.
One Colourful Character will be selected from each region by a panel of judges in June, and will receive a £100 Red Letter Day voucher. The winners will then go head to head in a public vote on Facebook during August, to find the National Colourful Character for 2016. The winner will receive a trip of a lifetime, courtesy of Saga Holidays.
Debby Pavitt from McCarthy & Stone, said: “We are running this competition to champion those colourful characters in Cornwall, and to celebrate their attitude to life during retirement.
“We meet colourful characters at our developments every day, and we want to highlight that life doesn’t end when you retire – it can be just as much fun, if not more.
“We’re looking forward to rewarding our winner with a trip of a lifetime, courtesy of saga Holidays, so it’s definitely worth taking the time to apply.”
To enter the competition, those over 60 can simply list what makes them a colourful character, before the deadline of May 6. This can be done online, at mccarthyandstone.co.uk, or by picking up an entry form from any developments in the region.
