STUDENTS at Launceston College achieved the best set of GCSE results in its history with 72 per cent of the students in Year 11 achieving at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or better and the highest number of A and A* passes for many years.

Students celebrated as they received the results and a record number will be returning to the college Sixth Form.

Principal, Jack Jackson, said: "These results are testimony to the hard work and talents of the students and the fantastic dedication of the teaching and support staff at the college. It is great to see the students ready to move on to the next stage of their life."

There were many great individual stories including: Dale Wallington, Andrew Parnell, Duncan Whale, Sam Acaster and Isabel Brumwell who achieved 63 A or A* grades between them.

Sixth Form enrolment will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 2 and 3 and the college re-opens to students on Tuesday, September 7.
