Explorer and public speaker Antony Jinman was fundraising at Tesco in Launceston on Friday and Saturday.
Antony, who currently lives in Plymouth but previously lived at Gunnislake, plans to become the first Briton to obtain the North and South Geographic Poles as well as ski across Greenland in just 12 months.
He has already completed Greenland and is now focusing on reaching the poles by the end of May 2010.
Antony has previously completed five successful arctic expeditions, including two solo trips skiing over 1,700km. Antony also runs his own school outreach project speaking in schools and universities all over the country. His expeditions are fully interactive so that students can ask questions and actively take part.
Antony does not charge for the talks he gives, instead he asks for donations to the Prince's Trust. He currently aims to raise £25,000 for the Prince's Trust.
This year, Antony will also be taking part in a coast to coast crossing of Devon promoting environmental issues linked with the National Trust. He will also fit in a return visit to Baffin Island before taking on the North and South Poles.
Antony said: "The biggest thing is that in order for me to reach my dream to achieve both poles and Greenland in just 12 months, I need the support of my community. To that end it isn't just me attempting this project but everyone who has helped and supported me.
"It was fantastic to speak to so many people this weekend at Tesco and to hear their words of support and encouragement. Public events like this really help boost my moral and confirm that I will achieve this dream, I will raise the astronomical funds required and I will become the first Briton to ski to both poles and across Greenland in just 12 months.
"A big thank you to Tesco and to everyone for their support. You can achieve whatever you wish from life. It just takes a bit of hard word and determination."
