THE mixed-use development on the Link Road in Launceston, has been approved by Cornwall Council's Strategic Planning Committee at its meeting last Thursday (July 4).

The development, which includes an outline of over 250 houses, a hotel, pub, family restaurant, a Morrisons store and more, has been in the planning process for some two years.

Andrew Pegg, of Wessex Developments, previously told the 'Post' in the event of permission being granted, the Morrisons store and some other parts of the development would begin in the new year, with hopes to be operational by the end of next year.

The houses are part of phase two of the development and will be built over three to five years.

At the Strategic Planning Committee Meeting, various local representatives voiced their views of the development.

As reported in the 'Post', the development has stirred much local debate due to the effect on about five oak trees in the Millennium Avenue along the Link Road.
