To tie in with the 30th anniversary of the air ambulance and to show her appreciation, on March 29 at Camelford Leisure Centre Lynda Brain took part in swimming two lengths of the pool on her back, writes Helen Pusey.
Lynda, who suffered a stroke some years ago, wanted to personally do this and was surprised when she learned she had surpassed her dream of swimming not only one length but two!
Aly Chatterjea, fitness instructor, said: “Lynda has worked very hard and has done amazingly well. It has been a very emotional day indeed.”
This achievement meant a great deal to Lynda as she received the vital treatment she needed from the air ambulance when she had her stroke.
She enjoyed a catch up afterwards with leisure centre friends, enjoying a coffee and cake. It was smiles all round from everyone.
Later Lynda added: “I am delighted to learn £600 was raised from the swim.”
