POLICE are asking for people to come forward with any information pertaining to the theft of a number of goats from a farm in the Ashwater, Beaworthy area.

It is suspected that some time between Thursday, January 5, and Monday, January 9, ten ‘Boer goats’ were stolen from a farm. All the goats taken were male, with seven being described as medium sized, two smaller and one large. The total value of the animals is said to be around £1,500.

A police spokesperson said: “We are investigating the theft of goats from a farm in Ashwater, Beaworthy. The offenders have entered a farm meadow and stolen the ten Boer goats and plastic feeders.”

Describing the goats the police spokesperson said: “All male goats; seven being described as medium sized, two smaller and one large. Eight of the goats are brown and white and two are completely white. They all have ear tags, with numbers as ID.”

The goats’ identification ear tags’ numbers are as follows; 02426, 00187, 00171, 00170, 00172, 03181, 61136, 77333, 77334, 77335.

The spokesperson added: ”Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious at the time of the offence. The offenders would have needed a vehicle to transport the animals.

“Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have been offered the animals for sale.”
