BUDE Police are appealing for witnesses, or anybody with information about a theft that occurred at a hotel in the town overnight between Thursday and Friday, June 17 and 18.
Several wooden pallets were taken from the Summerleaze Beach Hotel, which is currently undergoing renovation.
A police spokesman said: "The remains of these pallets have been found in a burnt mess on the beach. The beach rangers have had to spend many man hours clearing the nails and debris up off the beach, purely just for someone's idea of fun. This site remains to be a building site, and anyone entering beyond the security fencing is putting themselves at risk, and anybody else who might have to enter to help them should they get hurt.
"Anybody found burning fires on the beach will be asked to put the fires out, and if criminal damage is caused those responsible will be dealt with by means of restorative justice which could include unpaid hours of cleaning the beach with the beach rangers, or if necessary arrested."
If anybody has any information regarding the theft can they please contact PCSO Lisa Jasper on 08452 777444, quoting log reference number BU/10/417.
