AN anonymous donation of £1,000 has secured this year's Holsworthy Carnival.

With a financial cloud casting spells of doubt over the future of Holsworthy Carnival, fundraising efforts have been stepped up to meet increased operation costs.

Secretary of the committee, Wendy Rogers previously said the event would go on with a "struggle". However, £1,000 from an anonymous source, was donated to the committee on Sunday (May 27).

"We are really overwhelmed," said Mrs Rogers, "and can't thank them enough. It is absolutely brilliant and shows there are people in the town who still want to see it.

"We are definitely all right this year and are very, very pleased."

Everything has been booked for one of the town's events of the year which takes place on Saturday, November 19.
