HOLSWORTHY Bowling Club recently made their annual visit to play the Plymouth Tourists Bowling Club at the bowling green on The Hoe. They set off by coach from Holsworthy at 10am making their usual visit to the garden centre at Carkeel, Saltash for coffee and spend an hour browsing/shopping. They then proceeded to Plymouth and the club house where lunch was ready for them, after which there was time for a short stroll on The Hoe before commencing the match at 2.30pm.
A very enjoyable match was played, during which a stop was made for tea and customary greetings exchanged. Holsworthy were pleased to win the match by 103 shots to 93: Rachel Britton, Peter Trible, Eddie Donnavon and Vera Heard 16-17; Malcolm Hancox, Rose Chetwynd, Dorothy Veale and Clive Tidball 19-14; Tom Barriball, Barbara May, Sylvia Wood and Dennis Veale 10-20; Pauline Barriball, Graham Norman, Maureen Cobbledick, Chris Brown 17-19; Roy Britton, Geoff Pitt, Anne French and Di Elliott 19-9; Edward Leonard, Pat Hancox, Patrick Martin, Val Baker 22-14.
