Stratton Playgroup held their annual summer fundraiser on Saturday, May 29. It took place at the playgroup as an open day giving the local community the opportunity to look around the new building and outside play area which was opened in the September 2009.
The event was a great success and raised £1,000; the biggest contributor to this fantastic amount was the ticket sales for the prize draw which wouldn't have been possible without such generous support from so many local businesses. The committee and staff of Stratton Playgroup have extended their thanks to all the businesses that donated prizes to help make the event such a success.
A recent addition to the playgroup has been a large permanent canopy which has been erected in the front of the building enabling the children access to outside play in all weathers. This was financed by a generous donation given by the Blanchminster Trust. Further thanks goes to Louise Paton for over-seeing this project and for the commitment this involves.
The money raised will be used to continue developing the outside play area which Hirst Construction of Week St Mary has done and will pay for new outdoor equipment.
