THE Tetcott and South Tetcott branch of the Pony Club had its annual presentation to parents with ‘Members Awards’ on Sunday, March 5, for their accomplishments during 2016.
Though when asked, members will say it is all about having fun on ponies and friendship they also like putting what they have learner into practice.
Two teams represented the branch at ‘Area Mounted Games’, three are ‘Dressage’, three at ‘Show Jumping’ and individual members competed at the ‘Area Eventing Qualifying Competition’.
One of the jumping teams qualified for the ‘Regional Championships’ at Bicton Arena and finished second.
The Tetcott and South Tetcott branch of the pony club was established in 1953 and is part of Pony Club Area 16. The area it covers includes Bideford to Camelford and Okehampton to Launceston including Bude and Holsworthy.
Sharon Greathead, district commissioner of the Tetcott and South Tetcott Pony Club, said: “It’s not all about how well your horse or pony can jump as three teams went to the Area Quiz night and this year the Tetcott Team won it.
“As well as regular rallies both mounted and unmounted training has begun for this year’s ‘Mounted Games’ and the quiz team are brushing up their knowledge in preparation for the national final in Buckinghamshire.
“Though they’ll all enjoy time out having fund with friends on the Easter Egg Hunt and as the weather warms you may spot a few hoof prints on the beach as they achieve their ‘Beach Ride’ badges.”
