IN this, the centenary year of the foundation of Save the Children, people came out in force to support the annual Hunger Lunch in the Camelford Hall, organised by the Camelford & District Save the Children group.
There was a warm, convivial atmosphere as people chose from seven different homemade soups, bread and cheese and delicious cakes, and enjoyed socializing. With a raffle and a bring-and-buy stall as well, a record £720 was raised.
A spokesperson from the branch said: “The group would like to say a huge thank you to all those who came for their generosity, and to Camelford Hall for providing such a good venue.” Forthcoming events in support of Save the Children include an Easter egg hunt at Trevathan Farm and a quiz night at the Bridge Bistro, Wadebridge, with many other things in the pipeline.
Save the Children works in the UK and in 120 countries worldwide. In 2017 over 13-million children were helped through their work.
