By Ann Hayne, Camelford Show secretary
AT?THE time of writing we are in the throes of taking entries and making preparations for the show where we enjoy excellent support from our local community and are lucky enough to be situated in a holiday spot where we can attract visitors to the show, weather dependant of course.
After ten years in the post I am standing down as secretary but we have already appointed another secretary to take over, Victoria Wells, who has some new suggestions and although we try to remain as traditional as possible, we have to move with the times and bring in fresh ideas. I am sure the show is in very capable hands.
This year’s president is Mr Mike Bromell, a long time supporter and committee member here at Camelford and we are delighted to have him and his wife Joan hosting the day.
As usual, the livestock, cattle, sheep, horses, dogs and poultry are the mainstay of the show and we welcome everyone to come and see what North Cornwall’s farmers have to offer and to compete with many from further afield who attend also.
Entertainment this year is going to be a ‘4x4 Flyball Dog Team’ and if you don’t know what that is, join the club. All I know is that it is fast and furious and very entertaining and is run by a local team here in North Cornwall. Children are never forgotten and we have ‘BigTopMania’ which never fails to provide all day free entertainment for youngsters of all ages.
Trade stands are also a feature and enquiries have been brisk for traders wanting space both inside and outside and we hope they have a successful day plying their goods.
It is always a day when we catch up with friends, neighbours and associates and you will enjoy a warm welcome.
