A PET service was held at St Michael’s Church in Lawhitton on Sunday, August 5, where the animals received a certificate of Christian blessing by the Rev Heather West.
There were hymns and bible readings about animals before people were given the chance for a ‘pat and chat’ where everyone got to meet each other’s pets, which included cats, dogs and chickens.
Although this was the first time it had happened at St Michael’s, similar services have been held in the local area.
Supporter, Derek Campbell, said: “A good time was had by all. The dogs and cats behaved themselves and the chickens didn’t fly away so everyone was happy. The children really enjoyed it.”
