AS PART of their tour of the South West, the renowned Dante String Quartet will give an afternoon concert at St Martin’s Church, Killerton Road, Bude, on Sunday, March 19 at 3pm.
Winner of the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Award of chamber music in 2007, the Dante Quartet is known for the emotional intensity of its performances. The quartet plays at major concert halls and festivals throughout the UK, including the well-loved Tamar Valley Summer Festival.
It has performed extensively across Europe and regularly broadcasts on BBC Radio 3.
The programme will include the aptly named quartet ‘The Joke’ by Haydn, Bartok quartet No.4, and Beethoven’s powerful Opus 130.
This is a great opportunity to hear wonderful music played by first-class musicians at this final concert of the Bude Music Society’s 70th season. Entry is £13 at the door, and students go free.
