CHILDREN of Pyworthy Primary School have been enjoying classes in athletics, run by trainer Alan Denyer.
The Active Villages initiative, managed by Torridge District Council, is all about supporting rural communities to develop long-term sports opportunities for local residents — of all ages.
This stage of the programme has seen activities organised in Parkham, Shebbear, St Giles in the Wood, St Giles-on-the-Heath and Pyworthy.
Cllr Ken James, ward member for Tamarside, went along to Pyworthy school to see for himself how the children were doing.
He said: "This is a great project which is benefiting rural communities like Pyworthy and giving people a chance to try something new. The children are clearly loving every moment of it."
