THE Moorland Art Group held it’s 37/38th art and craft exhibition in St Nonna’s Church Hall, Altarnun from July 20 to 28 this year.

The hall looked extremely pretty with all the flowers beautifully arranged by Elizabeth Prince with the great gladioli grown again by Carol Francis. The hall has been newly decked with great bunting  which set off the great art work of Margaret Harrison, Dora Reed, Pam Kempster, Peter Earle,  Garry Balaam, Elizabeth Prince, Barbara Crump, Brenda Murphy, Sue Martin, Jenny Holt and Carol.

There were an abundance of paintings in various mediums and subjects along with some very interesting craft work. There were many cards on sale of the artists’ original paintings and some handmade pressed flowers and hand-painted cards.

Sue provided hand made buttons, brooches, knitted cacti, jewellery and cards.

Pam had knitted and crocheted some delightful shawls and printed and hand embellished cards.

Barbara had painted on slate some delightful scenes and birds.

Dora had made lovely jewellery, knitted toys, sea shell and drift wood decorated mirrors.

Brenda had collected sea glass and shells to make delightful framed pictures and printed cards.

Margaret provided a great selection of printed cards.

Peter, a newcomer to the group, produced a multitude of cards from his excellent paintings.

Stuart Kempster again provided an excellent calendar for 2020 from the artists’ paintings.

Finally Jenny had her painted slate phrases, hand painted coasters, trinket dishes, salt dough novelties, collages, gift tags, hand painted and printed cards.

This year the group’s charity was more local to home, St Nonna’s Church hall restoration fund, and they managed to raise £200 for the regeneration.

A spokesperson said: “We would like to thank all of the visitors that managed to come along and support the exhibition.

“The turn out this year was not as large as normal as we believe that the business with Brexit is making people a little worried and possibly the weather a bit too warm.”

The winners of the daily raffle were Jack Jones, Suzie from Tregadillet, Peter, Mrs Pam Sandercott, Garry, Angela Tryner, Mavis Philip of Pensilva, Gwen Naylor and June from Five Lanes.
