TORRIDGE District Council's Plans Committee will today (Thursday) discuss amended plans for proposed holiday and letting accommodation at Roadford Lake.
The application — submitted by Peninsula Properties Ltd — seeks outline permission for a proposed development of holiday letting accommodation, comprising up to 98 bedspaces, to be situated on land adjacent to the Lakeside Conference Centre, Roadford Lake.
The plans also include a 'core building' (comprising management office space, two bedspaces for staff accommodation and limited retail facilities), associated landscaping, car parking and access arrangements, pontoon/ferry link to the angling and watersports centre and outline sewage arrangements.
A previous application for a similar tourist accommodation development at Higher Goodacre on the opposite bank to the Lakeside Centre was refused contrary to officer recommendation on December 7 last year.
The case officer, Mr C Preece, has recommended councillors approve the amended plans as he considered the proposal to "satisfactorily comply with relevant development plan policies in respect of tourism development, countryside protection and landscape distinctiveness, highway impacts, nature conservation protection and mitigation, drainage, archaeology and impacts on the living conditions of residential neighbours and on adjacent lands uses."
