CAMELFORD Foodbank, run from St Thomas of Canterbury Church, will be open on Monday, December 23 from 2pm until 4pm to help struggling people at Christmas.

The much-needed facility is made possible by the 'amazing' generosity of people in the area, said one organiser.

The Monday opening in Christmas week is instead of the normal Tuesday, which this year is Christmas Eve.

The foodbank started in May 2011 and works with Wadebridge Foodbank. Donations from individuals, schools, groups and other churches taken to St Thomas are sent to Wadebridge, where they are packed and weighed. The boxes are then distributed to foodbanks in Camelford, Wadebridge and Bodmin.

Food boxes are packed with staple, in-date, packaged foods. Fresh fruit and vegetables cannot be used.
