OCTOBER 31 saw the Bude Methodist Church hold the third 'Light Party,' an alternative to Halloween celebrations, at Harlequinns Play Zone, Bude.
Over 55 children came to enjoy an hour of free play in the Play Zone, most dressed in fancy dress — but only positive themed costumes were allowed!
There was also a craft table making stained glass window effect paper candles and balloon modelling going on too.
After play the children and young people sat down to a party box tea of sandwiches, cakes and grapes, all kindly
donated by members of Bude Methodist Church. The crisps and the boxes were donated by Snack Bowl at Harlequinns.
While they were eating, Justin Riviere gave a short talk about celebrating light instead of dark and the recognition of Jesus as the light of the world, by the Christian Church.
The event included a fancy dress competition which included a home made squirrel costume and a bat baby.
The six winners all received prizes that were announced after tea was finished. Everyone who came left with a party bag which included gifts with Jesus Light of the World printed on them. Special thanks are given by the Mums' Bible Study group, (who organise the event) to Harlequinns and Rachael Quinn for again donating the use of the Play Zone for free, the young people from local Churches who helped with craft activities and distributing the food and party bags and adults including all those who kindly
donated food.
The next event organised by the Mums' Bible Study group with Bude Methodist Church is the Tiny Tots Nativity on Wednesday, December 9 at 10.30am at Bude Methodist Church (Central Site).
