A SERVICE of remembrance was held on Sunday, November 13, in Altarnun for Remembrance Sunday.

The service was led by the Rev Deryn Roberts, and in attendance were war veterans, Altarnun Community Choir, Altarnun bell ringers and members of the community.

Before the service, the bells were rung — half muffled — in honour of all those who went to war, and those who did not return. The choir then sang a moving rendition by the village memorial.

Two minutes’ silence followed, with the blow of a whistle belonging to a soldier who did not come home, but is still remembered.
